Vintage 1966 Fender Jazz Bass RAF Style

Vintage 1966 Fender Jazz Bass RAF Style. This is a slightly less ‘out there’ story, but still a great one at that. We had a call one day at The Music Locker from an ex RAF pilot. He was an avid collector and had built up a crazy collection of vintage bass guitars. This was over the course of many decades and included this crazy rare 1966 Fender Jazz Bass. On one trip to the USA he purchased this beauty from a local pawn shop off duty and I love what he did next. On his journey back, he hid it behind a pile of bags on the back of plane and landed it in the UK.

It may not sound much but this is a crazy rare guitar! The fact it is a ‘factory’ custom colour with the a matching headstock colour is rare in itself, but to find one in this kind of condition, in the UK, is another. I used to drool over such guitars in my teens – one of the reasons we set up The Music Locker. The stories this guitar could tell!
