Vintage 1972 1973 1974 Gibson SG Special Cherry Electric Guitar
In 1960 Gibson experienced a decline in electric guitar sales due to their high prices and strong competition from Fender. Therefore, they introduced a thinner and lighter ‘Les Paul’ with two sharply pointed cutaways that made the upper frets more accessible. However, the design was done without Les Paul’s knowledge, and he asked Gibson to remove his name from the guitar, and ended his involvement with the company! The model name was changed to SG, standing for solid guitar, and this shape continues to be produced to the day!
The SG Special was favoured by many, most notably Pete Townshend. This is no exception to the quality of these 70s Gibsons. If they’re good enough for Townshend, they’re good enough for The Music Locker!
