Vintage 1958 1959 Fender Jazzmaster Sunburst Anodized Pickguard Pre CBS
Vintage 1958 1959 Fender Jazzmaster Sunburst Anodized Pickguard Pre CBS
Fender is the most recognisable and collectable brand when it comes to vintage guitars. In 1958, Fender introduced a new, upgraded line, to their already strong catalogue of Telecasters and Stratocasters, at the NAMM Show. These were deemed the more expensive, better-made younger sibling. Notable users include Alex Turner, Thurston Moore, Elvis Costello, Johnny Marr, J Mascis and many more.
This is no exception to the rarity and build-quality of these favoured Jazzmasters, and comes with extremely exciting provenance. According to the previous owner, ‘a very famous Texan blues guitarist called Johnny’ owned this guitar, hence the customized pickguard and drawings on the original case. Who knows – this could have been the late Johnny Winter, Texas Johnny Brown or even Johnny Watson! What’s more, this is a first year production model, 100% original!

Cosmetic Inspection
This is in brilliant condition for a 57 year old guitar. As you can see in the pictures, it has a few battle scars, but nothing significant. It is naturally roadworn, giving a beautiful look to it. Please bear in mind this is 57 years old so will not be in the condition it left the factory.
Originality
In our opinion, this is all original. The original anodised pickguard has been professionally tattooed to give a unique and eye-catching pattern. The original pots come with the guitar but have had newer upgrades fitted. We believe the original strap comes with the sale too. All in all, an original guitar.
Summary
Overall, this is a very rare and collectable guitar. Not only is this sure to increase in value year on year, but also it can be an enjoyed investment. Where else could you find a guitar with this sort of provenance for this price!
