Vintage 1971 Hiwatt 4×12 Cabinet Amplifier Ex Genesis Band

Now this is something special. I recently had an email from a guy in Wales who said he had an original Genesis owned Hiwatt cabinet stored in his friends garage. He had purchased it many decades ago from a freelance roadie who had worked for Genesis during the two shows they did in Wales in 1971 and 1972. Who knows HOW he got this, but he did, and kept it until selling to the previous owner. This one was cabinet ‘S’ or cabinet ‘2’ as you can see from the stencil to the rear. The speakers inside are a matched quad of 1971 dated Fane 122/42 drivers, that look hardly used at all. My guess is that this cabinet came from one of the Welsh concerts very early on in it’s life of touring, and sat pretty much since.

Unfortunately whilst it had been sat in the garage, it had a case of woodworm to the bottom panel. This has since been treated and has no traces of the woodworm left. However, it has weakened the bottom panel as you can see and would be down to the buyer to decide whether to replace the panel or leave it as it is – it’s perfectly usable as it is by the way. I’ve found pictures of these cabinets being used in 1971 and early 1972 throughout the world by Genesis, which is pretty incredible! Grab a real piece of rock history with this cabinet – stored for decades in a garage in Wales after being purchased from an old Genesis roadie!
