Fender is the most recognisable and collectable brand when it comes to vintage guitars. Couple that with the legendary appearance of Jimi Hendrix at Woodstock in 1969, we find ourselves with this guitar – “no guitar represents a greater convergence of artist, event and instrument than this” (The Guitar Collection, 2011).

In 1954, Fender introduced a new line to their already strong catalogue – the Stratocaster. There were many small, incremental changes to the design that reached towards the sale of Fender to CBS in 1965. This version of the Stratocaster was one of the first of the CBS era and is an iconic version that holds such history, along with a brilliant investment to take into the future.

This is no exception to the rarity and build-quality of these early Stratocasters.

Service History

We purchased this off the original owner, who bought it new in 1972. He was a classical guitar player so hardly ever got this out. Therefore, when we purchased it, we just needed to get it checked over for originality and set up with new strings on it. It is ready to play!

Cosmetic Inspection

Just WOW – you will not find a better one than this. This is almost perfect, apart from a small mark on the front that can only be seen in certain light. We have photographed it from two different positions and you can see the faintness of it. Apart from this, it’s almost mint!

Originality

We had the guitar inspected and we can confirm it is all original!

Overall, this is a very rare and collectable guitar. Not only is this sure to increase in value year on year, but also it can be an enjoyed investment.
