Vintage 1969 1970 Simms Watts AP100 MK1 100w Amplifier Head
This wonderful amplifier has come in from the original owner who bought this in London in the early 1970s. It’s a MK1 Simms Watts AP100, and has been used around the world by a touring musician from then until now, looked after incredibly well in the meantime. This is the grey panel MK1 example, not the later orange panel MK2.
I put it through a service with a leading UK amp tech, who had to replace the EL34 for a brand new matched quad of JJ’s. The 3x ECC83s are a mixture of the original Brimar (x2) and a newer Harma example. Both transformers are original to the amplifier and work perfectly. Cosmetically in good condition, with everything present that should be. It had a previous modded switch added next to the brilliant channel input jacks, which has been subsequently removed, leaving the remnants of the hole, otherwise great. The previous owner ‘Ron Roadrunner’ wrote his name all over the rear too – a part of its history. Please see the picture below as these form part of the description. Grab a bargain!
