Vintage 1968 Marshall Super Bass 100w Plexi Stack Celestion Greenback
Vintage 1968 Marshall Super Bass 100w Plexi Stack Celestion Greenback
This is one of the coolest players grade amplifiers on the market today! I picked these up separately but couldn’t resist pairing together for the perfect half stack set up! The Marshall Super Bass 100w plexi is truly a thing of beauty, and I believe it dates to 1969. It has two of the original transformers, with one changed for a newer M100PL lay-down replacement.
The previous owner obviously knew how to get a good sound out of this, because the replacement valves complement this truly – it sings! There are a few components changed on the circuit board, but nothing significant, including the capacitors. The plexi panel has been previously plugged as you can see, and the knobs are newer replacements. The amplifier is currently set at 240v, but it’s quite easy to use across the pond with a step transformer. Currently set at 8ohms too, but again something easy to change (the receptors were a little stretched).
The basketweave cabinet, dating to 1968, has a matched quad of original T1281s, dating to late November 1968, all with original 014 cones. The tolex has some scuffs throughout, most notably on the back of the cabinet. The Marshall logo was missing when I purchased this, so have put on a newer replacement purely for cosmetic reasons. This amplifier has been serviced to a playable & safe standard, by one of our leading amp techs.
