Vintage 1962 Vox AC15 Twin 2×12 Amplifier Guitar Combo Players Grade

This is a wonderful players grade 1961 / 1962 Vox AC15 Twin – a very rare amplifier indeed. It’s somewhat of a crazy amplifier for various reasons. Though this is a 1961 / 1962 AC15, the cabinet was likely made for an AC30 of the same age, but for whatever reason from the factory, an AC15 chassis placed inside, and the model number on the serial number plate punched out, with ‘AC15’ etched to the side. The cabinet is likely a re-covered cabinet, originally fawn covering, and the front cloth is a recent replacement. Inside is a very nice conditioned AC15 chassis, with a double pair of chassis holes where it would have been punched for an original AC15 box and then, likely again at the factory, punched for the box it was actually placed inside (this one!).

It’s had a pair of Celestion G21M speakers replaced in the 1970s, one dating to 1970 and the other to 1972.  It’s a crazy amplifier all around, but priced to sell as a players grade amplifier. Internally original on the chassis, including all transformers, and the circuitboard is relatively untouched except the usual service replacements. All the valves are newer replacements, on a recent service before my ownership. It’s a stunner – grab a bargain! Please see the pictures below as these form part of my description.
