Vintage 1950s 1960s Burns London ‘Custom’ Pink Sonic Bass Guitar Ex. Bill Wyman
I am excited to offer the following from the incredible Ronnie Lane Mobile Studio collection. The LMS has a history spanning from 1972 and is the most successful mobile studio in the world. After Abbey Road the most successful studio of any kind, still in existence anywhere outside of the US. The studio has recorded the most successful artists of all time, at the most significant stages of their careers. It is responsible for more than 750 million records sold. Now is the time to let some of the collection back into the wild, and I have the privilege of doing just that!
My offering Now this one is a bit of an odd one…
Mark (LMS) purchased this back in the 1960s from someone who claimed this used to be Bill Wyman’s. When he purchased it, it had the classic mahogany coloured body and already with the ‘Strat-like’ cutouts that Bill famously did on his guitars. I have a picture of Mark with the bass guitar in the original mahogany state. Mark then refinished it in the pink colour you see, along with the pickguard too, when a band he played in went for the pink look. There is ABSOLUTELY NO PROOF that this was Bill Wyman’s bass guitar and, if there was, I’d not be selling it for Mark for the price it is, but I have every reason to believe it was in fact the case! Along with the guitar comes a rather cool period hard case. It’s a head turner for sure!
Please note – up until recently, the current owner and producer – Mark St John – kept these in working order and used inside the studio. However, he fell suddenly ill pre-covid and therefore these items have been stood for a while in his warehouse and will definitely require a clean and service. They are being sold as seen and HAVE NOT been cleaned and serviced. Please keep this in mind when purchasing.
