Vintage 1978 Vox AC30 Top Boost Amplifier Oasis Stone Roses Provenance

Provenance

Oh wow! What a special piece of rock n’ roll history. We purchased this off of our friend Mark Coyle. Mark was the sound engineer / producer for some of the greatest albums of all time that came out the Manchester scene; most notably Oasis! This particular Vox AC30 was played by Mark on Oasis’ album ‘Standing on the Shoulder of Giants’, and the flight case with it is officially ex The Stone Roses’. Mark’s story is truly fascinating, and what a gentleman he is! Mark gave us provenance that the above is the case, which we are happy to pass on to the buyer. You can see the remnants of ‘SR003’ stencilled on the flight case still.

Amplifier

The amplifier itself is a 1978 Vox AC30 with top boost, complete with a matched pair of original Celestion T1871 ‘blackback’ speakers. The sound this gives off is to die for! This has been played well throughout it’s lifetime, with quite a few scuffs and scrapes throughout, which the pictures will tell the story of. There is a missing handle in the middle, and one of the remaining handles has been replaced. The cabinet has been painted in places too. It had been stored for quite a few years prior to us purchasing it, but we’ve had our best technician work on it and confirm everything is now working well. There is a small hole to the back of the cabinet, along with an extra jack socket, as pictured.

The valves were replaced in it’s lifetime, actually for much much better valves – a quad of Mullard EL84s and an assortment of early ECC83s. Mark is extremely aware of different sounds, so his changing of these valves really does compliment this amplifier! This is a real rock n’ roll amplifier and flight case, with plenty of use and plenty of stories to tell! If you’re a die hard Oasis fan, this is the amplifier for you! This amplifier has been serviced to a playable & safe standard, by one of our leading amp techs.
