Vintage 1968 Marshall 8×10 Basketweave Amp Cabinet Ex Deep Purple
Used (we believe) by Deep Purple.
This particular model is the extremely rare thin model 1990, where Marshall made the cabinet to fit the small box 50w (of which we have one for sale from the same era) – small Marshall logo, basketweave covering, gold & white piping, metal handles, Celestion 7442s with NIB4 cones, 26167 serial, all date this to about 1968.
Cosmetic Inspection
This is in extremely good condition, considering its age and provenance. There are a few nicks and scrapes here and there but nothing significant. There has been another input socket added, as pictured.
Originality
We believe this is all original except the two bottom speakers which are period speakers (dated to 1971). These are exactly the same speakers as used, but just with a different date code. We also believe that the logo has been changed from the original larger style to this smaller style.
Summary
One of the best quality cabinets you’ll find. These exceed the quality of most new cabinets and are always on the increase in regards to collectability – especially with this sort of provenance!
