Vintage 1968 Laney Pre Supergroup 60w PA Douglas Valve Amplifier
Vintage 1968 Laney Pre Supergroup 60w PA Douglas Valve Amplifier
A very special piece of history right here. This is one of the first ever Laney amplifiers ever made! Laney started by making a PA system for Robert Plant, exactly the same as this. This is dates to 1968, before Laney started marketing these as the ‘Supergroup’, and predates their use of Partridge transformers. Cosmetically, it is in great condition. There are hardly any marks or scuffs throughout, as pictured. It does look like the chassis has been bent in the past, with the transformer slightly bent. However, this doesn’t affect the sound and is perfectly safely and sound. The three original Douglas transformers, alongside a pair of Brimar EL34s and 2x Marshall & 2x period ECC83s, give this amplifier a real special sound. If you’re wanting a piece of British amplifier history, this is the amplifier for you!
