Vintage 1967 Marshall Bluesbreaker 4×10 1961 Plexi JMP Tremolo 50w

Description

1967 Marshall ‘Bluesbreaker’ JMP Tremolo 50w 4×10 Amplifier, the exact same era used by Eric Clapton himself.

This particular model is the extremely rare crossover period (1966-1967), where Marshall changed the external label from JTM to JMP – still retaining that classic JTM sound. The pinstripe baffle, mustard caps, silver & gold stickered speakers, amongst other things, date this amplifier to 1967.

This amplifier is possibly one of the most famous sounding amplifiers – well known for launching British blues-rock music in the 1960s – placing it in the top ten most valuable amplifiers in the world.

Cosmetic Inspection

There are two splits to the front baffle, one of which has been sewn up professionally, as pictured. There are a few scrapes and bumps to the tolex, as pictured, most notably the left hand side (painted matt black to hide the wood) and the underneath (wood showing in places). Three small holes to the bottom backplate where external speaker inputs have been fitted (now removed). Part of the chassis back plexi panel has come off, possibly when the previous owner fitted a kettle lead in place of the original bulgin plug.

We have been as honest as possible, exaggerating the things to report. The amplifier looks the part and is in no way a mess.

Originality

We believe all the parts that matter are original, as pictured.

The Music Locker prides itself on offering vintage and collectable pre-owned instruments and equipment (the Products).

We take all reasonable steps to ensure the equipment has been inspected by a competent person in the UK to ensure it complies with UK safety standards. This may mean it does not comply with the current standards in the country in which it will be subsequently used. It is the purchasers’ responsibility to ensure it is inspected by a competent person knowledgeable with the relevant electrical safety standards within that country, prior to connecting to any live electrical circuit.

It is the philosophy of The Music Locker to keep all items as original as possible, only changing original components when absolutely necessary. This includes valves, capacitors, transformers, potentiometers, frets, etc. This gives the buyer the option of tailoring to their exact needs, and may mean that the item is not operating at optimum performance levels. Therefore, your personal preference may differ, depending on your circumstances (i.e. collector or musician), and you may decide to service the item in more depth upon receiving.

The Music Locker cannot accept responsibility for any costs of refurbishment to a standard different to the one advertised.
