Vintage 1966 Marshall JTM45 MKII Original Plexi Amplifier Head

I am so excited to share this beauty for sale – an original and genuine 1966 Marshall JTM45. It’s been with the previous owner for some decades. Has been regularly used and serviced up until the present day. Internally, it has the original mains TF and choke. A replacement Drake output TF done by Marshall themselves in 2001. The whole set of valves were, again, replaced by Marshall back in 2001, and then the power valves replaced again in 2010 for a pair of Sovtek 6L6’s. It’s a nicely looked after chassis, and sounds absolutely unbelievable! I have had it recently serviced to a high standard, so it’s truly ready to go!

Externally, the cabinet was painted black in the 1970s (a regularly occurrence to hide the green-tinted tolex), but the original green spec tolex is showing underneath. The paint could be removed if necessary, but it is a lengthy job so left for the new owner to decide. The logo is a later replacement, though no extra holes have been drilled, and a couple of the knobs are newer replacements but the majority original. This is a truly wonderful example, you will not be disappointed! More information can be found on my website. Please have a close look at the high resolution photographs below, as these form part of my description.

We take all reasonable steps to ensure the equipment has been inspected by a competent person in the UK to ensure it complies with UK safety standards. This may mean it does not comply with the current standards in the country in which it will be subsequently used. It is the philosophy of The Music Locker to keep all items as original as possible, only changing original components when absolutely necessary. This includes valves, capacitors, transformers, potentiometers, frets, etc. This gives the buyer the option of tailoring to their exact needs, and may mean that the item is not operating at optimum performance levels. Therefore, your personal preference may differ, depending on your circumstances (i.e. collector or musician), and you may decide to service the item in more depth upon receiving.
