Vintage 1958 Hofner Committee Burst Birds Eye Electric Guitar
Vintage 1958 Hofner Committee Burst Birds Eye Electric Guitar
I was excited as ever to find this beauty in a North London loft. The owner had had it since new, and his daughter was clearing out the loft when she found this tucked away in a corner. It was covered in dust from decades of storage, but underneath lay a true beauty.
It dates to the late 1950s, and would have originally been an acoustic version. However at some point in the 1960s, a Burns electric guitar pickup was placed inside rather nicely, with a volume knob to the front, making this playable through an amplifier. As you know, these pickups are really special and were favoured by many a guitarist back in the day.
The back of this guitar is a stunning birdseye maple, with an ebony fretboard and a nice inlaid headstock. I’ve had many of these committee guitars in my time, and this one has blown me away with how beautiful it really is. Cosmetically in great condition with a few very light scuffs but nothing significant. You will truly love this beauty!
From a loft clear out, now up for sale ready for the new owner. Get in touch for more information and please see my pictures below as they form part of my description.
