Vintage 1970s Park Marshall 50w 1228 Valve Amplifier Head

Vintage 1970s Park Marshall 50w 1228 Valve Amplifier Head

I was recently given the privilege of buying 2x original 1970s Park amplifiers. Anything Park is worth snatching up! This one is a mid-70s Park Model 1228 with some even earlier parts to it. It is difficult to date this exactly as the serial number is 00151 and the sticker on the chassis is slightly missing. My guess is circa 1975. The 1202-164 was used from 1969-1973 on Marshall amplifiers. The C2542 is circa 1975, and the output transformer is a replacement anyway. Park were known for using up ‘older’ parts than the Marshall amplifiers (hence sometimes a better sound than a same year Marshall), so I believe this to be 1975. It’s a real beauty of an amplifier and sounds truly incredible.

The power valves are a really nice pair of Mullard XF2 EL34, and the pre-amps are a mixture of 3x replacements. Cosmetically it is in good condition, as you can see, with a few bumps and scrapes. The previous owner hard wired this when the transformer was replaced to 240v so will require a step transformer for use in the USA, or a tech to wire in the 110v tap. I have had this amplifier serviced to a playable & safe standard, by one of our leading amp techs. To find out more about what the service includes, please check out my terms and conditions before purchasing. The pictures below form part of my description. And, as always, get in touch with me at The Music Locker – I am always willing to do a deal!
