Vintage 1974 Fender Stratocaster USA Sunburst Maple Electric Guitar

Vintage 1974 Fender Stratocaster USA Sunburst Maple Electric Guitar

This beauty is one that has been around our office for a while, but we’ve only just decided to sell it. It’s a true beauty and one of the best we’ve ever played! This came to us in bits, and we’ve put it all together and now it sings. I don’t overstate when I say this plays like a dream, and it is in brilliant condition too! And, of course, this beauty comes with a non-original hard case for transporting, and even has the original bridge cover and whammy bar!

This has been authenticated, and dates to 1974. The neck is dated around October 1974 in the correct red stamp, which correlates with the serial number of 520088. The pickups are original black bottom pickups, with a ’14’ written on the bottom of one of them, though we had to get the wiring redone with black and white plastic wire. The pots all date to 1974 too, as pictured below. Altogether a lovely, original example.

This guitar is in great condition. The original sunburst finish is in brilliant condition with a couple of light dings, most notably on the lower bout, as pictured. The metalwork on this guitar is really exceptional – very little rust at all. The neck itself is in wonderful condition – one of the best we’ve seen. There is a small worm route joining the middle pickup with the pot cavity, as you can see in the pictures, but this really isn’t big at all.

Weight: 7.7lbs – extremely lightweight

Please have a close look at the high resolution photographs below, as these form part of our description.

At The Music Locker we will do all we can for you to get the instrument you want. You’re more than welcome to come along and have a play on this through one of our vintage amplifiers.

The Music Locker prides itself on offering vintage and collectable pre-owned instruments and equipment (the Products).

We take all reasonable steps to ensure the equipment has been inspected by a competent person in the UK to ensure it complies with UK safety standards. This may mean it does not comply with the current standards in the country in which it will be subsequently used. It is the purchasers’ responsibility to ensure it is inspected by a competent person knowledgeable with the relevant electrical safety standards within that country, prior to connecting to any live electrical circuit.

It is the philosophy of The Music Locker to keep all items as original as possible, only changing original components when absolutely necessary. This includes valves, capacitors, transformers, potentiometers, frets, etc. This gives the buyer the option of tailoring to their exact needs, and may mean that the item is not operating at optimum performance levels. Therefore, your personal preference may differ, depending on your circumstances (i.e. collector or musician), and you may decide to service the item in more depth upon receiving.

The Music Locker cannot accept responsibility for any costs of refurbishment to a standard different to the one advertised.
