This previously uncirculated amplifier has just been sourced from the second owner, who bought it second hand in 1969 from a friend who owned a theatre on Tottenham Court Road. He’s had it ever since and has recently decided to part with it. With only a few said to be left in existence, this amplifier is a collectors dream! This legendary KT88-equipped UL7120 is not only the ultimate tone monster, with its 120-watts of British power, it’s without a doubt one of the rarest amps in the world! The 4 & 7-series amplifiers were used extensively by the Beatles during the recording sessions for the Revolver album and beyond. The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd were also users of this short-lived amplifier line. Who knows who this particular amplifier could have been played by with the London provenance.
Unfortunately this amplifier is without the serial number plate, something we’ve seen quite often on these, but we have verified it to be correct. It comes with all the original valves – a matched quad of GEC KT88s, along with a Mullard ECL86 and EL84. The previous owner had this serviced by a qualified technician before we purchased it, but he kept all the original parts which are pictured and included in the sale. It really is a special piece!
