Vintage 1966 Fender Jazz Bass Factory Custom Olympic White Guitar

Vintage 1966 Fender Jazz Bass Factory Custom Olympic White Guitar

Well, you don’t see this very often at all! A totally original 1966 Fender Jazz Bass with matching headstock, imported all those years ago from the US of A. The previous owner was an avid collector who worked in the Royal Air Force. On one trip to the USA he purchased this from a local guitar shop and imported it over in one of the RAF planes. He kept it ever since and has just decided to sell it on. He clearly looked after his guitars and apparently this one never came out its case in all the years he owned it (hence the tag on the handle).

We have carefully taken this apart in order to authenticate it and everything is as it should be, down to the smallest detail. The serial number puts this at 1966, the neck date is 7th July 1966, the original pickups date to 20th December 1966, and the pot codes date to late 1966 too. When taking the pickguard off, we saw the ES body stamp, which confirms this to be an original custom colour, and not a refinish. What is more, this weighs just 7.4lbs which means it is an extremely manageable weight.

This is in lovely, used condition. There are quite a few light marks to it, and a couple of more significant ones that go back to the wood. Nothing is broken or split, however I would say that it is certainly naturally roadworn from years of playing by the original owner. It comes with the original Fender Hard Case, missing half of the ‘Fender’ badge, but still extremely sturdy after years of use.

Serial Number: 175657

At The Music Locker we will do all we can for you to get the instrument you want. You’re more than welcome to come along and have a play on this through one of our vintage amplifiers! For our UK customers, we should be able to personally deliver this guitar to you upon purchasing. The same goes for some of our European friends where possible. Get in contact and we’ll do all we can to sort delivery.

Please Note: also included in the postage price, for countries outside of Europe only, is a CITES certificate. This is because the guitar includes the restricted rosewood material, meaning an export certificate is necessary. The application process for a CITES certificate can only be started once purchased and will add on up to 15 days to delivery.

The Music Locker prides itself on offering vintage and collectable pre-owned instruments and equipment (the Products).

We take all reasonable steps to ensure the equipment has been inspected by a competent person in the UK to ensure it complies with UK safety standards. This may mean it does not comply with the current standards in the country in which it will be subsequently used. It is the purchasers’ responsibility to ensure it is inspected by a competent person knowledgeable with the relevant electrical safety standards within that country, prior to connecting to any live electrical circuit.

It is the philosophy of The Music Locker to keep all items as original as possible, only changing original components when absolutely necessary. This includes valves, capacitors, transformers, potentiometers, frets, etc. This gives the buyer the option of tailoring to their exact needs, and may mean that the item is not operating at optimum performance levels. Therefore, your personal preference may differ, depending on your circumstances (i.e. collector or musician), and you may decide to service the item in more depth upon receiving.

The Music Locker cannot accept responsibility for any costs of refurbishment to a standard different to the one advertised.
