Vintage 1960s Quad 22 Control Unit and Quad II Amplifiers

Vintage 1960s Quad 22 Control Unit and Quad II Amplifiers

This wonderful ‘stereo’ matched set up has been recently serviced and checked over by a leading British amp tech. It has the original GEC & Mullard Valves, 79-80K serial numbers and black & red sockets indicating ‘Stereo’, around 1966. If you’re looking for a complete set up ready to go, this is the one!

Quad II Serial Numbers: 79712 & 80301 (both circa 1966, backed up by the Hunts code dating to 1966)

Quad 22 Serial Number: 29824 (Circa 1960)

As you can see above, the Quad II are a matched pair, and the Quad 22 has been purchased to suit it by the previous owner. It is still a beautiful matched set.

These are extremely original. The KT66 valves in both amplifiers are a matching pair of original GECs, followed by a pair of original Mullard GZ32s, and the 2x original Mullard EF86s in one set, and a set of 2x GEC EF86s in the other. The circuit board looks like it has only had a few minor replacements. The balance pot has been disconnected, meaning it is constantly set at the centre position. Other than this, it really is a special set! Condition is great. There are a few small scuffs on them, as you can see, but nothing at all significant. They have been extremely well looked after in their lifetime!

You really won’t find a better set out there! The perfect amplifiers for those classic vinyls in your collection!

Please see the high quality photos as these form part of our description.

The Music Locker prides itself on offering vintage and collectable pre-owned instruments and equipment (the Products).

We take all reasonable steps to ensure the equipment has been inspected by a competent person in the UK to ensure it complies with UK safety standards. This may mean it does not comply with the current standards in the country in which it will be subsequently used. It is the purchasers’ responsibility to ensure it is inspected by a competent person knowledgeable with the relevant electrical safety standards within that country, prior to connecting to any live electrical circuit.

It is the philosophy of The Music Locker to keep all items as original as possible, only changing original components when absolutely necessary. This includes valves, capacitors, transformers, potentiometers, frets, etc. This gives the buyer the option of tailoring to their exact needs, and may mean that the item is not operating at optimum performance levels. Therefore, your personal preference may differ, depending on your circumstances (i.e. collector or musician), and you may decide to service the item in more depth upon receiving.

The Music Locker cannot accept responsibility for any costs of refurbishment to a standard different to the one advertised.
