Vintage 1960 Vox AC15 TV 1×12 T530 Valve Amplifier Combo

Vintage 1960 Vox AC15 TV 1×12 T530 Valve Amplifier Combo

If you’re looking for a legendary amplifier, without the price tag, this is the amplifier for you – a 1960 Vox AC15 TV front, dated to 1960. We purchased this from an old boy in the North West of England, who’d owned it for many many years. It had fallen out of favour with his wife, hence living in the garage. He’d dug it out one day and decided to have it refurbished.

Unfortunately the cabinet had suffered from woodworm and damp over the years sat in the garage, and quite a few of the parts had broken down. Therefore it needed a complete overhaul, including many components and cosmetics. One of the transformers had either been changed or rewound early on, and the other (complete with the sticker) has been changed more recently. The components used to refurbish this are top quality components, mainly period Mustard caps, meaning it gives out a real classic sound and has very little background noise for an amplifier of this age. The Celestion T530 dates to 21st June 1960 and has the original RIC cone. The original Vox ‘Egg’ pedal is included.

Cosmetically

The top back panel has been made lately to compensate the one destroyed in the garage, and the bottom panel has been treated and painted for the woodworm damage. There are many scuffs and scrapes from the years, most notably the bottom right corner, as pictured, and there are remnants of years upon years of cigarette burns to the top. The handle is a period correct replacement, as pictured, and I believe the backplate is a period correct unstamped replacement too (missing serial number). It may not be the best cosmetically, or originality wise, but it certainly kicks out a stink when playing! You’ll not be disappointed!

At The Music Locker we will do all we can for you to get the instrument you want. You’re more than welcome to come and have a play on this, coupled with one of our vintage guitars!

The Music Locker prides itself on offering vintage and collectable pre-owned instruments and equipment (the Products).

We take all reasonable steps to ensure the equipment has been inspected by a competent person in the UK to ensure it complies with UK safety standards. This may mean it does not comply with the current standards in the country in which it will be subsequently used. It is the purchasers’ responsibility to ensure it is inspected by a competent person knowledgeable with the relevant electrical safety standards within that country, prior to connecting to any live electrical circuit.

It is the philosophy of The Music Locker to keep all items as original as possible, only changing original components when absolutely necessary. This includes valves, capacitors, transformers, potentiometers, frets, etc. This gives the buyer the option of tailoring to their exact needs, and may mean that the item is not operating at optimum performance levels. Therefore, your personal preference may differ, depending on your circumstances (i.e. collector or musician), and you may decide to service the item in more depth upon receiving.

The Music Locker cannot accept responsibility for any costs of refurbishment to a standard different to the one advertised.
