Vintage 1960 Hofner President Acoustic Archtop Brunette Rosewood Hollow Guitar

Vintage 1960 Hofner President Acoustic Archtop Brunette Rosewood Hollow Guitar

One of the first truss-rod model Hofner guitars, and one of the last with the ‘Hofner’ logo on the body, slightly before they started to decrease the quality. This 1960 President came from a Hofner collector in the North East. He’d looked after this extremely well in the years of owning it, and you really can see. Non-electric single cutaway President with a lovely flame maple back and sides, as you can see in the pictures, and spruce top. This one is pretty much completely and original, including the often lost pickguard. The serial number appears to be 7319, which lines up with the rest of the guitar dating it to 1960. It is in wonderful playable condition, with very good action. Condition wise, there are a few marks here and there, but nothing significant. It is well loved and well played guitar.

Weight: 4.6 lbs

Please note, for all you musicians and collectors outside of Europe, this guitar will need a CITES certificate to accompany the export of this guitar, due to inclusion of the restricted rosewood material. This application process can only be started once purchased, costs £59 (included in the postage price), and can add on up to 15 days to the posting off process. Please get in touch for more information before purchasing.

At The Music Locker we will do all we can for you to get the instrument you want. You’re more than welcome to come along and have a play on this through one of our vintage amplifiers!

The Music Locker prides itself on offering vintage and collectable pre-owned instruments and equipment (the Products).

We take all reasonable steps to ensure the equipment has been inspected by a competent person in the UK to ensure it complies with UK safety standards. This may mean it does not comply with the current standards in the country in which it will be subsequently used. It is the purchasers’ responsibility to ensure it is inspected by a competent person knowledgeable with the relevant electrical safety standards within that country, prior to connecting to any live electrical circuit.

It is the philosophy of The Music Locker to keep all items as original as possible, only changing original components when absolutely necessary. This includes valves, capacitors, transformers, potentiometers, frets, etc. This gives the buyer the option of tailoring to their exact needs, and may mean that the item is not operating at optimum performance levels. Therefore, your personal preference may differ, depending on your circumstances (i.e. collector or musician), and you may decide to service the item in more depth upon receiving.

The Music Locker cannot accept responsibility for any costs of refurbishment to a standard different to the one advertised.
