Vintage 1960 Hofner Club 50 Brunette Sunburst Electric Guitar OHSC

Vintage 1960 Hofner Club 50 Brunette Sunburst Electric Guitar OHSC

This is a one of a kind players Hofner Club 50, dating from 1960. This was one of the first with the ‘toaster’ pickups, having changed over that year. Regarding originality, there has been a few changes – some would say to improve this! The pickguard is not original, but has been carefully shaped a long time ago to match the pickup. The wooden bridge and tailpiece are both not original, the latter being very similar to original 50s Gibson & Gretsch tailpieces! The pots have been changed over for a simple volume and tone, along with a 3-way pickup switch – which actually adds something really special to this particular guitar. The machine heads have been definitely upgraded to original 1960s (or maybe even 1950s) Grover’s!

Weight: 4.3lbs or 3.95kg With Case

Serial: 1407

There are a few scuffs and marks throughout, and a crack on the fascia of the headstock, as pictured, yet it really does add to the character of this guitar. The original hard case is in brilliant condition too! Please have a close look at the high resolution photographs below, as these form part of our description.

Please note, for all you musicians and collectors outside of Europe, this guitar will need a CITES certificate to accompany the export of this guitar, due to inclusion of the restricted rosewood material. This application process can only be started once purchased, costs £59 (included in the postage price), and can add on up to 15 days to the posting off process. Please get in touch for more information before purchasing.

At The Music Locker we will do all we can for you to get the instrument you want. You’re more than welcome to come along and have a play on this through one of our vintage amplifiers!

The Music Locker prides itself on offering vintage and collectable pre-owned instruments and equipment (the Products).

We take all reasonable steps to ensure the equipment has been inspected by a competent person in the UK to ensure it complies with UK safety standards. This may mean it does not comply with the current standards in the country in which it will be subsequently used. It is the purchasers’ responsibility to ensure it is inspected by a competent person knowledgeable with the relevant electrical safety standards within that country, prior to connecting to any live electrical circuit.

It is the philosophy of The Music Locker to keep all items as original as possible, only changing original components when absolutely necessary. This includes valves, capacitors, transformers, potentiometers, frets, etc. This gives the buyer the option of tailoring to their exact needs, and may mean that the item is not operating at optimum performance levels. Therefore, your personal preference may differ, depending on your circumstances (i.e. collector or musician), and you may decide to service the item in more depth upon receiving.

The Music Locker cannot accept responsibility for any costs of refurbishment to a standard different to the one advertised.
