Cosmetic Inspection

This is in brilliant condition for a 47 year old guitar. As you can see in the pictures, the only bits worth mentioning include the original decal fading and a slight bit missing from the scratchplate.

Originality

We had the guitar inspected by Colin Keefe, who has years of experience with these types of guitars. He authenticated the guitar and confirmed, along with the finish, the only other things that are not original is one pot and the saddles. The rest of the guitar holds true.

Description

1968 Fender Stratocaster w/ Original Case

Fender is the most recognisable and collectable brand when it comes to vintage guitars. Couple that with the legendary appearance of Jimi Hendrix at Woodstock in 1969, we find ourselves with this guitar – “no guitar represents a greater convergence of artist, event and instrument than this” (The Guitar Collection, 2011).

In 1954, Fender introduced a new line to their already strong catalogue – the Stratocaster. There were many small, incremental changes to the design that reached towards the sale of Fender to CBS in 1965. This version of the Stratocaster was one of the first of the CBS era and is an iconic version that holds such history, along with a brilliant investment to take into the future.

This is no exception to the rarity and build-quality of these early Stratocasters.

Service History

This guitar came to us having been refinished back in the 1970s in a horrible blue car paint. We believe the guitar was originally Sunburst but, with our connection to local luthier Colin Keefe (http://www.keefeguitars.co.uk), we had the guitar completely stripped and refinished to an unbelievably high standard in Olympic White. Our love for Jimi Hendrix heavily influenced this decision! The guitar was then refretted and professionally set up ready to play. And boy does it play!

Summary

Overall, this is a very rare and collectable guitar. Not only is this sure to increase in value year on year, but also it can be an enjoyed investment.

We welcome anyone to come have a play on this. We are happy to discuss any deal, including part exchanges, on 07831118877 or 07970061897.

The Music Locker prides itself on offering vintage and collectable pre-owned instruments and equipment (the Products).

We take all reasonable steps to ensure the equipment has been inspected by a competent person in the UK to ensure it complies with UK safety standards. This may mean it does not comply with the current standards in the country in which it will be subsequently used. It is the purchasers’ responsibility to ensure it is inspected by a competent person knowledgeable with the relevant electrical safety standards within that country, prior to connecting to any live electrical circuit.

It is the philosophy of The Music Locker to keep all items as original as possible, only changing original components when absolutely necessary. This includes valves, capacitors, transformers, potentiometers, frets, etc. This gives the buyer the option of tailoring to their exact needs, and may mean that the item is not operating at optimum performance levels. Therefore, your personal preference may differ, depending on your circumstances (i.e. collector or musician), and you may decide to service the item in more depth upon receiving.

The Music Locker cannot accept responsibility for any costs of refurbishment to a standard different to the one advertised.
