1960 Hofner President in Natural Blonde.
The President was the ‘middle-of-the-range’ archtop in the Selmer catalogue. This was crafted using a fine spruce body, flame maple veneer back and sides, mother of pearl flower headstock and triple dot fret markers.
Favoured by many including The Beatles, Hank Marvin, Buddy Holly, Jimi Hendrix and even Eric Clapton, this is no exception to the rarity and build-quality of these early 60s models.
Body: Spruce Top, Flame Maple Back & Sides
Neck: 5-peice Rosewood & Mahogany Laminated Neck
Hardware: Custom Tortoise Pickguard
This has been restrung and set up by a highly skilled local luthier. Plays and sounds great!
This is in brilliant, used condition. As you can see in the pictures, it has nothing significant to report but does have wear that dates back over the 50+ years. Looks, plays and sounds a beauty! There is a small hairline mark that is PURELY COSMETIC on the heel of the neck. We’ve tested this to see if it is a split/crack, but it has been confirmed to be purely cosmetic and not deep.
In our opinion, the only thing that has been changed is the custom reissue pickguard and a single tuner, hence the cheaper price.
Overall, this is a very rare and collectable guitar. Not only is this sure to increase in value year on year, but also it can be an enjoyed investment.
Come along and have a play!

We take all reasonable steps to ensure the equipment has been inspected by a competent person in the UK to ensure it complies with UK safety standards. This may mean it does not comply with the current standards in the country in which it will be subsequently used. It is the philosophy of The Music Locker to keep all items as original as possible, only changing original components when absolutely necessary. This includes valves, capacitors, transformers, potentiometers, frets, etc. This gives the buyer the option of tailoring to their exact needs, and may mean that the item is not operating at optimum performance levels. Therefore, your personal preference may differ, depending on your circumstances (i.e. collector or musician), and you may decide to service the item in more depth upon receiving.
