1970s Simms Watts ‘Super’ PA200 Valve Amplifier.
Simms-Watts are one of the forgotten heroes of the British valve scene. They are built to the highest quality and are becoming extremely collectable in the modern market. Simms-Watts were considered amongst the best brands you could buy back in the day, and were the first sound contractors for Glastonbury Festival.
This is no exception to the rarity and build-quality of these favoured early Simms-Watts’. With this being the PA version, who knows whether or not this could have been a part of Glastonbury Festival itself!
The 200w gives one of the best clean sounds you will find, and take some serious output before distortion. Therefore, this works brilliantly for bass guitar, but can be used for guitar, PA or even a hi-fi system!
Watts: 200 watts
Impedance: 15 or 7.5 ohms
Output Valves: 4x KT88
Transformers: Possibly the biggest we’ve ever seen! Jumper included to run at different voltages
We pride ourselves on our inspections and the professional service of each amplifier, making this ready to plug in and play anywhere within the UK.
This is in brilliant condition. We struggle to find anything worth mentioning.
In the service the bulgin, 100nF capacitor, KT88 screen resistors and output stage capacitors were replaced to bring back to its original glory. There was also a missing backplate which has been custom made and covered to fit.
One of the best quality amplifiers you’ll find. These exceed the quality of most new amplifiers and are always on the increase in regards to collectability.
Come along and have a play!

The Music Locker prides itself on offering vintage and collectable pre-owned instruments and equipment (the Products).
We take all reasonable steps to ensure the equipment has been inspected by a competent person in the UK to ensure it complies with UK safety standards. This may mean it does not comply with the current standards in the country in which it will be subsequently used. It is the purchasers’ responsibility to ensure it is inspected by a competent person knowledgeable with the relevant electrical safety standards within that country, prior to connecting to any live electrical circuit.
It is the philosophy of The Music Locker to keep all items as original as possible, only changing original components when absolutely necessary. This includes valves, capacitors, transformers, potentiometers, frets, etc. This gives the buyer the option of tailoring to their exact needs, and may mean that the item is not operating at optimum performance levels. Therefore, your personal preference may differ, depending on your circumstances (i.e. collector or musician), and you may decide to service the item in more depth upon receiving.
The Music Locker cannot accept responsibility for any costs of refurbishment to a standard different to the one advertised.
