2001 Fender Jimi Hendrix Voodoo Reverse Special Sunburst Maple Stratocaster

2001 Fender Jimi Hendrix Voodoo Reverse Special Sunburst Maple Stratocaster

“Fender suspended sales of the Voodoo Stratocaster in 1999, following objections from the Hendrix estate, but in 2001 the exact same model reappeared, minus the laser-engraved Hendrix neckplate. A Voodoo Strat with a regular Corona neckplate. The estate objected again(!) and sales were once again halted. However, regardless of which version*, and which year, these models all have 1997 serial numbers, carried over from the original run”.

This has had a few slight alterations in it’s past, hence the price, which are explained below.

Serial Number: TN706536

Weight: 7.8lbs

This guitar has been checked over and restrung, where necessary, to make it a playable standard. To find out more about what our service includes, please check out our terms and conditions before purchasing.

Condition

Overall ‘excellent’ condition, with nothing significant to report.

Please have a close look at the high resolution photographs below, as these form part of our description.

Originality

Neck and body are original, both dating to 2001 from the stamps shown below. Two pickups are original however, this would have initially had a reverse pickup in then bridge position. However, the previous owner had this taken out and replaced it with a ‘016730’ Fender pickup, used in quite a lot of ‘Vintage Style’ Fender guitars. At the same time, he replaced the pickguard, dated 2009, and routed the original body for the normal pickup. Another indication of this is the cloth wire on the original pickups, and the plastic wire on the newer one.

So basically what this is is an original Hendrix Reverse Voodoo Stratocaster, with the changed bridge pickup and pickguard. The price reflects these changes.

At The Music Locker we will do all we can for you to get the instrument you want. You’re more than welcome to come along and have a play on this through one of our vintage amplifiers!

Therefore, your personal preference may differ, depending on your circumstances (i.e. collector or musician), and you may decide to service the item in more depth upon receiving.
